Adjusting to a New Life

In the U.S., many of you have just gone through daylight savings time. Some of you love it, some of you despise it—but over here in France, we won’t be adjusting our clocks until the end of March. And honestly, I’ve had enough adjusting for one month already.

Jet lag has finally started to let up, and after many restless nights, I finally got a full night’s sleep. But adjusting isn’t just about time zones. It’s about settling into a new life in a place that doesn’t quite feel like home yet.
The Case of the Wrong Address
I haven’t shared much about my interim apartment, mostly because I’ve been too busy trying to make it feel livable. The move-in experience didn’t help matters. After a long journey and hauling eight bags of luggage, I arrived at what I thought was my new home. I attempted to open doors only to find two very confused Parisians staring back at me. Turns out, I was on the wrong side of the building. The same complex, just the opposite street address. If only I had known before the workout of dragging my entire life up multiple flights of stairs.
Support From Afar
While I’m lucky to have my dear friend Lupe here with me for these first few weeks, helping me navigate the ups and downs of this transition, I’ve also been leaning on support from back home. Today’s blog photo is of me and my wonderful friend Tom. Though we’re now thousands of miles apart, he has been a rock for me through this entire process, reminding me that even when things feel uncertain, I have people who believe in me.
A Quick Giveaway Update

Every day in Paris brings something new—some wins, some frustrations, and a whole lot of learning. I may not have it all figured out yet, but I’m taking it one day at a time.
