Some days are easier than others.

That’s true no matter where you live, but when you’ve moved across the world, it adds a different kind of weight.

It’s been exactly two months since I arrived in Paris. And while I’m settling in little by little, I’m still learning the ropes—navigating whether I need a VPN, figuring out how to get a local phone plan (after already buying a phone that didn’t quite fit the bill), and getting used to systems that don’t work the way they do back in the States. The people, I must say, have been mostly kind and generous. So when something doesn’t go smoothly, it’s rarely about them—it’s just about adjusting to a new rhythm.

That said, there’s been so much joy. Eating out in Paris might cost about the same as it did in Los Angeles, but the quality makes it feel like money well spent. And grocery shopping? That’s where Paris really shines. The ingredients are fresher, better priced, and often beautifully displayed. Even a quick stop at the market can feel like an event.

I shared more about my daily life—and one particularly memorable interaction—on my YouTube channel this week. If you’re curious about what’s going well, what I’m still figuring out, and how I’m truly embracing this new chapter, you can watch the video here:

Lois Mills, a stylish older woman with long silver hair, raises her hands in exasperation in front of the French flag backdrop, reacting to a frustrating encounter in France. Large yellow text reads “NO ENGLISH!!” with two angry emojis next to her face.

As always, thank you for being part of this journey with me.
