Finding the Joy in the Journey

It’s hard to believe, but in just one more week, I’ll be moving into what will be my new home in France. After months of planning, countless hurdles, and moments of doubt, I’m finally at the cusp of settling in for real.

Lois and her friend Lupe sitting in the back of a car, enjoying a moment together as they navigate Paris. Lois wears oversized sunglasses and a chic black coat, while Lupe smiles in a cozy light blue sweater.

This past week, I said goodbye to my dear friend Lupe, who flew with me and Jackie to help ease this transition. Having her here was a comfort I didn’t know I’d need so much. Now, as I navigate these final days in my temporary apartment, I’m focusing on the positives—on the little joys that remind me exactly why I chose Paris in the first place.

A charming cobblestone street in Paris lined with cafés, restaurants, and small boutiques. Pedestrians stroll through the historic district, surrounded by classic Parisian architecture.

Walking through the neighborhood has been a gift. Every corner has a new discovery, whether it’s a hidden market with the freshest produce, a centuries-old church tucked between modern buildings, or simply the energy of the streets as people go about their day. Paris has a way of making even the smallest, most mundane moments feel special.

Lois excitedly admiring a display of stacked baguette sandwiches at a French delicatessen, showcasing fresh, traditional ingredients in an inviting storefront.

It would be easy to let uncertainty cloud the excitement, but when I slow down and take it all in—the beauty, the history, the rhythm of daily life—I remember why I took this leap. Paris isn’t just a city; it’s a feeling, a dream that I’ve worked so hard to make real. And now, as I stand on the edge of this next chapter, I choose to embrace it with gratitude.

A breathtaking view of the interior of a historic Parisian church, featuring an intricate painted dome, elegant marble columns, and golden accents that highlight the grandeur of the sacred space.

A new home, a fresh start, and a million more discoveries waiting just outside my door.

P.S. Thank you for following along on this journey. I can’t wait to share more once I’m settled in!

Love, Lois 🤍
